A partnership between the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) and MobileUp Software has produced a new native app that insurance professionals use for mobile engagement and data access.
NIPR centralizes industry information for insurance professionals in the United States and its territories. NIPR’s Producer Database (PDB) includes 6.7 million records about insurance providers (individuals and businesses) and processed more than 29 million transactions in 2017 according to the company’s annual report.
In the past, individual insurance professionals did not have immediate access to their information in PDB. But with the rapid adoption of mobile devices in recent years, NIPR sought the creation of the app to deliver the performance, data presentation, and overall app experience that individual members of the insurance producer community have grown accustomed to when accessing data via smartphones.
The initial version of the app, available for Apple and Android users, securely connects to the PDB through user authentication based on NIPR’s business rules and API.
The app gives providers mobile access to their basic licensing information and status in any state or jurisdiction. It also includes access to NIPR’s web and social feeds and a feedback form.
NIPR officially announced the app’s availability at the NAIC/NIPR Insurance Summit in Kansas City, MO, last week.
“We have been more than pleased with the working relationship between our teams in delivering this app to insurance professionals,” said Karen Stakem Hornig, Executive Director of NIPR. “We have been focused on ways to handle our volume with more efficiency. Our initial success with the app demonstrates how you can get things done quickly when you pick the right partners for the job.”
Future versions of the app will incorporate display of additional data (e.g. addresses and appointments), more of NIPR’s existing services such as license expiration alerts, new license applications and renewals, and demographic data updates among others.
“Our established app-development platform was built for the custom requirements and mass scalability of a project of this scope,” said Tom DeBacco, CEO and Chairman of MobileUp Software. “We are pleased with the success of the app to date and eager to add more functionality in coming months.”
